Parks

The City of Watonga’s Parks Department maintains 287 acres of land dedicated to a broad variety of recreation opportunities for Watonga’s residents, as well as visitors from surrounding communities. Facilities include four softball fields, four baseball fields, six soccer fields, one skate park and a splash pad.

The department employs four full-time staff members and two seasonal workers who help with mowing responsibilities at 11 city parks.  During the cold season, the Parks Department assists with holiday preparations, performs service and repairs to all Park Dept. equipment, and tends to needed improvements to parks.  To report concerns or to schedule events, contact Donnie Dunn at (580)623-0134 or email to watongaparks@pldi.net.

Notice to Citizens of Watonga Regarding Use of Parks

Watonga Parks are currently open to the public.  The Parks Department requests that citizens follow State of Oklahoma recommendations when using public spaces.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the following guidelines for use of public spaces to help the prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Please continue to maintain social distancing—stay 6 feet apart
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds with warm water and soap
  • Stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to COVID-19
  • Limit gatherings to 10 people or less until guidelines are reevaluated by the State of Oklahoma
